I know that my mom wanted to throw us a wedding shower to celebrate here, as we do not have many guests attending the destination wedding. The truth is, I know that the shower she would have thrown us would have been beautiful. She would have spared no expense to make the day perfect for her only daughter and the man that has brought her years of happiness and is finally giving her the happily ever after she always wanted. Unfortunately, with mom’s sudden passing I am having a rough go of things. This is hitting me a lot harder than I expected because I never thought I would lose her so soon. It’s not that I do not want to celebrate with all of you, but I think emotionally it would be too hard to attend a party in my honor that my beautiful mother would have thrown us without her there or her actually making it what I know it would have been. I hope that you can all understand and appreciate where I am coming from at this difficult and painful time.We have given this a lot of thought over the last few weeks- Instead of registering for home items at Bed Bath and Beyond and opening them up in front of everyone at a party where our emotions are all over the place, Bob and I have decided to register with Disney Fairytale Weddings and Honeymoons so that instead of gadgets that will break, wear out or get lost in a move, we can register for experiences. Memories are all I have left of my incredible and irreplaceable mother and there is nothing in a store that could take that pain away, but the memories are what make me smile and remember. We chose to register for memories that will last a lifetime. I think that in her absence mom would understand and appreciate my decision.
