Well, Jada and I had been apart for a bout a month and a half. I was currently working as a nanny in Indiana for the summer and Jada had gone home to Winnipeg to start apartment hunting and job searches for when I arrived in August.

She told me one night that I had a surprise coming, a package. I thought maybe it could be her surprising me, but she convinced me otherwise, considering by that time it was late July, and I only had about 2 weeks before I'd be arriving in Winnipeg myself.

I was sitting up in my room waiting for a package to arrive. 5 o'clock came and went and I figured I wouldn't be getting it that day, maybe tomorrow, which was a Friday.

I just happened to be walking out of my room when I saw our friends, Abby and Ellie, walking across the driveway. I was super confused for a minute. Then I saw her red pants. I ran down the stairs. I don't remember what I was saying, but I was shouting some kind of profanity. I threw open the door and literally crashed into her with a hug. It was the best feeling of my life.

After our guests left, we were up stairs alone in my room and she said she was thirsty. So I left for some glasses of water. When I came up she said she had something to ask me. Immediately I thought of the water in my hands, so I asked if I should put down the cups. She was nervous so she said "Sure?"

Then she dropped down to one knee. My hands flew to my mouth and I said yes!

We kept it to ourselves for a little while, enjoying our excitement in private, but soon our secret couldn't be contained anymore. And that's what brought us here.
